The Laimburg Research Centre is the leading research institute for agriculture and food quality in South Tyrol (Italy). We operate mainly in applied research with the aim of increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of South Tyrolean agriculture and of ensuring the quality of agricultural products.

The working group “Berries and Stone Fruit” of the Laimburg Research Centre is looking for:

Job Description

The areas of responsibility are as follows:

  • participate to tests to determine the suitability of nuts and stone fruit varieties for different microclimatic sites
  • research on the ideal variety and rootstock combinations and their suitability for high-altitude cultivation
  • experimental trials with various cultivation methods and tending strategies
  • guidance on the right choice of fruit variety and cultivation management


  • Completed university studies of at least four years attested by a diploma in Agronomy or similar (M.Sc.)
  • Knowledge of English (can be evaluated during the interview)

Desired additional competences:

  • Knowledge in stone fruit growing technology and physiology
  • Experience in the field of training systems and pruning
  • PhD, Post-Doc experience or relevant work experience a is an advantage
  • Publication record with particular focus on physiology
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English - can be evaluated during the interview
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Candidates should be highly motivated, able to work independently and possess good team-working skills

 Workplace: Laimburg Research Centre

 Contract duration: 12 months, fulltime

This is a full-time position at Laimburg Research Centre. The regular place of work will be the Research Centre in Vadena (BZ). Classification is based on the category " employee" according to the Agricultural collective agreement. The contract may be renewed if at that time funds will still be available, within the limits of the legal provisions at that time.

General requirements for admission to the proceedings:

  •  full possession of the political and civil rights
  •  full possession of the legal conditions and permits allowing an employment relationship in Italy
  • no criminal convictions or legal proceedings for criminal offences, which are incompatible with employment at the Laimburg Research Centre.
