Fruit Growing

The responsibilities of the Department of Fruit Growing include basic and applied research that addresses a variety of questions arising within South Tyrol’s fruit-growing industry. The experiments carried out in this department focus on: breeding and testing of new varieties, labour-saving training methods, quality-oriented yield regulation, environmentally sound use of fertilizers and irrigation, as well as storage techniques. Particular attention is paid to the concept of organic farming. Laimburg disseminates research findings to local consultants and fruit growers via professional training events and through articles published in various specialised journals.
