Protection of intellectual property of new apple varieties from the Laimburg genetic improvement programme

Project description:

In 1997, the Laimburg Research Centre launched an apple breeding programme, the results of which will be made available to the South Tyrolean fruit-growing world with the aim of promoting its economic development. In order to be able to use the new apple varieties, it is necessary to apply for variety protection at European level. The Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio supports the project by co-financing the patenting costs for one of the varieties involved in the project.
