Internships
The interns of Laimburg Research Centre can acquire a detailed view of a selected research area within agriculture or food quality. In this way it is possible for them to study in detail and expand their theoretical knowledge through practical experience.
Laimburg Research Centre offers internships for the following research areas:
- Fruit Growing
- Viticulture
- Enology
- Entomology
- Horticulture
- Molecular Biology and Microbiology
- Agricultural Chemistry
- Food Chemistry
- Mountain Agriculture
- Food Technology
- Administration (Human Resources, Procurement, Accounting, Technical Services)
- Science Communication
Profile required
Internships are open to holders of Italian citizenship or equivalent, providing they are undergoing or have undergone training in one of the disciplines listed below:
- All upper secondary schools, including professional schools. To be accepted, the student must be at least attending their fourth year.
- Disciplinary areas for people registered for university courses or new graduates: law, political science, social science and economics, science area, technical area (including agricultural and forestry science) and humanities.
Persons attending pre-university courses will be considered as equivalent to university students.
Students who have graduated no more than 12 months previously are also eligible for internships. Internship orientations are not available to persons who have already completed a ten-month internship.
Duration of Internships
As a rule, internship training and orientation last for a minimum two-month period (excluding mandatory internships) and a maximum of:
- three months for students of middle or upper secondary schools, professional schools or state professional institutes as well as for those attending post-diploma training activities. It is possible to commence the internship no later than twelve months from completion of education/training. At the justified request of the host company, the internship may be extended up to a maximum of four months.
- six months for people registered for university courses, including those attending undergraduate courses, PhD courses and schools or courses for advanced specialisation and post-graduate specialisation. It is possible to commence the internship no later than twelve months from completion of education/training. It is possible to extend the length of the internship.
Application form

It is possible to submit an application and commence an internship at any time of year. Complete the application form.
A curriculum vitae (signed and updated, and no more than six months old - enter the date) and a valid ID document must be annexed to the application; otherwise, the application cannot be considered.
Important
Make sure that documents do not contain data from specific categories as per Art. 9 of the General Data Protection Regulations 679/2016 (e.g., data on health, religious beliefs, etc.).
In the event of technical problems, the application can be sent in using different means, by completing the relevant forms.
Internship does not constitute an employment relationship.
The number of internships is decided on a yearly basis according to the needs and availability within the different sectors. At the time of submission, applications are individually assessed and if there are any places, the application can be accepted. There are no rankings and therefore, by submitting an application, candidates do not acquire any right to employment.
During the internship, interns are supervised by a tutor appointed by the Centre. The internship is paid according to internal regulations.
Further requirements
- No exclusion from the right to vote or political rights.
- Full possession of the legal requirements and permits that allow internship in Italy.
- No sentence that - based on the discretional assessment of Laimburg Research Centre - is considered incompatible with provincial use or unsuitable for same
