We seek out practical solutions for agriculture and food processing, and at the same time, we also carry out basic research in important priority areas. Our Programme of activities is prepared every year, in close collaboration with representatives of agriculture in South Tyrol, for the purposes of transmitting results to our stakeholders in a targeted manner. Cutting-edge laboratories and experimental fields at our headquarters in Vadena/Laimburg, NOI Techpark in Bolzano/Bozen, Eyrs/Oris and Dietenheim/Teodone are the foundation of this work.

We develop research partnerships in South Tyrol, in Italy, and internationally; we also take part in international research projects, and we are members of various national and international research networks.
