Press and Science Communication
Research creates knowledge. Communication transforms it into impact.
Science communication is an integral part of research: it transforms complex concepts into knowledge that can be shared and used, stimulating dialogue between research, citizens and business, strengthening faith in science, and generating a tangible impact.
Strategy and Aims
At Laimburg Research Centre, the main aim of science communication is to share knowledge and results with businesses and professionals in the agrifood sector, showing the concrete value of applied research to agriculture and food technology of the future.
The Science Communication working group prepares and implements the Centre’s communication strategy. It has two major aims: promoting the Centre's image and communicating research activities and experiments.
We work closely with research partners and the agrifood sector.
Research becomes even more accessible through images and videos. To communicate the Centre's projects, we use photographs, video interviews and short clips, which are then uploaded to our social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube). We curate content for the official website of Laimburg Research Centre and for the websites dedicated to individual projects. We also take care of communication for the scientific events organised by the Centre’s Event Management.
Press Office
We maintain close contact with local and international press, supporting editorial staff in content creation for newspapers, radio, TV, and digital platforms. We also develop specific collaborations with various news outlets to provide more detailed articles to press, radio and TV.

Laimburg Report
Every two years we publish the Laimburg Report, which provides a complete panorama of the Centre's activities and collects updated information about staff and financial resources. This publication includes our main research projects and experiments, setting out the results achieved and illustrating how Laimburg Centre contributes to innovation in agriculture and the food processing sector. The Laimburg Report is devised to ensure transparency and to provide clear information for both the general public and industry professionals.
Communication of Projects Financed by Third Parties
As well as circulation and exploitation of results, communication plays a key role in research projects funded by third entities, such as the European Union. The Science Communication working group supports research staff in the development of targeted strategies to make the most of scientific results, reach different reference audiences, and guarantee maximum visibility for projects.
Citizen Science Projects and Public Initiatives
Citizen science allows the public to make an active contribution to research, giving people a leading role in knowledge production. The Science Communication working group accompanies the Centre’s research teams in planning and developing Citizen Science projects.
We also promote activities with the public, including photo initiatives and events open to everyone, with the aim of raising participants’ awareness of key themes such as biodiversity and sustainability, stimulating curiosity and active participation.

Science & Corporate Ambassador Academy
Science acquires value when it meets people, transforming itself into dialogue and discussion. This is why Laimburg Research Centre has created its Science & Corporate Ambassador Academy, a training programme that allows the Centre’s researchers to acquire a solid means to become spokespersons for science and for the institute. The aim is to boost their communication skills and to foster the meeting of research and society, increasing trust in and the impact of scientific research.i
