Alliance for Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Viticulture

The Alliance for fruit and vegetable growing and viticulture is a collaboration between important institutions in Europe. Its aim is to promote research, innovation, training and vocational education in the agricultural sectors of fruit growing, viticulture, and vegetable growing. Established on 21 November 2024, this partnership brings together research institutes and universities from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy to deal with major challenges and provide incentives to apply sustainable practices.

Aims of the Alliance

The Alliance focuses on making the most of skills and resources to promote innovation and sustainability in fruit growing, viticulture and vegetable growing. These main objectives include:

  • Exchange of knowledge and networking: Creating platforms for continued dialogue and collaboration in order to overcome problems and explore innovative solutions.
  • Optimisation of resources and achievement of critical mass: Sharing resources to boost research and innovation capacity and to deal with ecological and economic challenges in the industry.
  • Transnational solutions: Dealing with interregional agricultural challenges with sustainable, global applications.
  • Education and training: Promoting international cooperation in education and vocational training to attract new talents

Main Activities

The Alliance is involved in different collaborations to promote education and vocational training:

  • Research initiatives: Creating multilateral research projects, sharing financing opportunities, and aligning with national and European agendas.
  • Mobility programmes: Incentivising exchanges between researchers, students and experts from partner institutions.
  • Joint events: Organisation of seminars, workshops and conferences to foster knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

The Impact of the Collaboration

By combining strengths, the Alliance boosts the impact of research and education in the agricultural sector. This collaboration strengthens voices in the area of political discussion and raises the profile of fruit growing, viticulture and vegetable growing on a national and EU level.
